Rachel Kim

Rachel Kim is a partner at Kim & Partners LLP in Calgary, advising energy sector companies, pipeline operators, and financial services firms on Canadian privacy and data governance law. Her practice covers PIPEDA compliance, Alberta PIPA, FINTRAC data handling requirements, and cross-border data transfer agreements.

Rachel's energy sector privacy practice is one of the few in Canada focused on the intersection of operational technology (OT) data, employee privacy, and PIPEDA — a rapidly growing area as energy companies digitize field operations and deploy IoT infrastructure.

She has structured cross-border data transfer agreements for Alberta energy companies with US, European, and Asia-Pacific joint venture partners, and has advised on the privacy implications of pipeline SCADA data sharing with federal regulators.

Rachel is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Ontario (inactive). She holds the CIPP/C designation and is a certified cybersecurity law specialist through the Canadian Bar Association.
